United Nations Want Man From Felanitx

m_barcelo.jpg

Miquel Barceló is a Mallorcan artist born in Felanitx of quite some repute. He came to even more fame than he already had when his St. Peter’s chapel apsis was opened to much acclaim earlier this year, inside the cathedral of Palma de Mallorca. My photo shows a detail of the masterly ceramic clay works in La Seu.

Barceló has now been commissioned by the United Nations Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, to create a 1,500 sq ms large vaulted ceiling in one of their new auditoriums. The massive new work will be inaugurated early next year, or so one hopes.

The photo was chosen from my archive. It was taken in Palma de Mallorca. The date: February 2nd, 2007. The time was 10:53:33.
