I do not think that there is a single traditional farm house in Mallorca which does not protect itself from flies and mosquitos with the help of a chain curtain. The months of September and October are traditionally the period when hordes of flies invade the Mallorcan dwellings and in particular, when any agricultural activity is going on nearby. The protective chains are available in all sorts of shapes, materials, colours, disguises and dimensions. Your local hardware shop or a tienda selling mimbrera or esparto would be the place to go for an adequate solution to your problems.
