I am not one for going to the beach a lot during the Summer. It is just too crowded for me when everybody else is there and his or her grandmother. If I felt like a swim during the hot season, I would go to the beach early in the morning, say, at 08h30, and return home again or to work at 10h30 when the hoi polloi arrive. Instead, I go to the beaches for walks a lot during the off-season when I enjoy the natural setting, the wind and the elements, on my own or in the company of my wife or good friends.
Yesterday, I went to Caló des Macs near Cala Llombards, close to Santanyí in the east of the island. Santanyí is privileged to have a good number of excellent beaches and bays, such as Cala Mondragó, S’Amarador, Cala Santanyí, Cala Llombards, Cala S’Almunia or Caló des Màrmols. Now, these bays and beaches are deserted. No-one would dream of swimming and only a solitary blogger or a lone female with a pair of large dogs are out enjoying the seclusion and the unquestionable beauty of this island in Winter.
