You would be right in thinking that this is a rather late reminder of the Trofeo Almirante Conde de Barcelona regatta having been staged a few weeks ago. The boat rally in Palma de Mallorca was organized by the Real Fundación Hispania de Barcos de Época for the 26th time this year. I must admit that I had planned on a certain photo of the boat parade that in the end, however, I did not manage to take. Without the not-taken photo, the event did not seem newsworthy enough to warrant an entry at the time. However, looking at the recently taken photos in my archive I now realized that it would be a shame to not show you a different photo (above), as I think that this is actually a picture worth sharing.
I am not a boat person in the same way that I am also not really into cars or motorbikes. But I do like vintage boats for their exuberance and style just as I do admire some classic cars for their beauty and elegance. Looking at the historic boats in Palma, all of which had been built between 1856 and 1949, I was simply awestruck by their design and craftsmanship.
The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: August 22nd, 2010. The time was 10:34:00.
