Ramon Llull (or Raimundus Lullus) was a very eminent writer, thinker and philosopher. You ought to know a thing or two about him (perhaps you do).

Llull is considered one of the founding fathers of Mallorcan history and Mallorcan culture. He was the son of Catalan parents and was born in Mallorca in 1232. He is credited with having written the major novel in the Catalan language, Libre de Blanquerna (1276), and he is said to have written at least 265 works, in Latin, in Catalan and in Arabic. He wrote more books than most people read in their lives.

Ramon Llull died in 1316. He is entombed in Palma de Mallorca, in the Església de Sant Francesc.

If you want to know more about the man: there is a Ramon Llull Museum in the monastery of Nuestra Señora de Gracia above Randa. There is also Miramar, near Valldemossa, where Llull, a secular Franciscan, founded a monastery in 1276 as well as a Study Centre for oriental languages.

The photo was taken in Miramar, near Valldemossa, Mallorca, Spain. The date: March 16th, 2008. The time was 15:29:47.
