The Three Tenors

The domesticated version of the Wild Turkey (Meleagris Gallopavo) is quite common in Mallorca. The animal is reared for its dexterity as a guard dog as well as for its food value.

Some breeders seem to raise the beasts for their guttural vocal range from ‘clucks’ to ‘putts’ and from ‘yelps’ to ‘cackles’ (or how ever you might translate the croaky sound range into Spanish and/or Catalan), perhaps for a Ball de Bots performance in time to come? A sound check could be heard last Easter Sunday, near Felanitx.

The photo was taken near Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: March 23rd, 2008. The time was 14:12:11.
