Under Monastic Vows

teresas.jpg

Spain is a deeply religious society, even though that slowly seems to be changing. Religious here means Catholic.

On the island of Mallorca there are some 45 monasteries, of which there are perhaps 12 in the island capital, Palma de Mallorca. Seven of those are convents, i. e. communities under monastic vows, and of those, five are closed convents. Nuns cannot go out, and visitors are not allowed in. The photo was taken off the Ramblas in Palma, at the Convento de las Teresas, a closed convent.

The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca. The date: August 1st, 2007. The time was 13:13:41.
