Mallorca has celebrated its Diada de Mallorca two days ago, September 12th. The Diada commemorates the oath taken by Mallorcan King Jaume II in 1276. This year, the official act was celebrated at the newly restored Teatro Principal in Palma de Mallorca.

The big photo today shows the theatre before its renovation, taken in January 2005. The small photo shows the present state of the theatre, after the rebuild, taken two weeks ago.

The Teatro Principal is a really beautiful baroque theatre that has its beginnings in 1662. It is now brimming with state of the art high-tech wizardry. If you have a chance, pay a visit. The annual festival of classic music, MusicaMallorca, starts in four weeks time, October 13th 2007.
