The Castell de Santueri, near Felanitx, is one of Mallorca’s oldest castles.
This one is reputed to have originated in Moorish times. The castle was taken, and badly damaged, when Mallorca was re-taken in 1229. It was rebuilt in the 14th century as a defense against Saracens and other pirates.
Today, however, all that is left of the castle is a ruin, and one in a very lamentable condition, too. Shame on you, Consell de Mallorca.
