Blue Skies Over Felanitx

felanitx_iglesia.jpg

Felanitx used to be quite an affluent Mallorcan town, many moons ago.

You can see the former glory in some of the buildings, such as for instance the parish church of Sant Miquel (shown here). The church dates back to the 16th Century. The steps leading up to the grand entrada are from the 14th Century, when an earlier church stood here.

During the month of May, the town organizes the annual Semanas de Música de Felanitx, and occasionally concerts are held in this very iglesia parroquial which is renowned for its organ and for its good acoustics. Don’t come any sooner, though, as the church is closed at this very moment, undergoing some structural renovations.

But look at the blue sky we had in Felanitx, only two days ago.

The photo was taken in the town of Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: November 30th, 2007. The time was 13:03:18.
