Whilst I wouldn’t want to stick my neck out and give you a weather forecast for next week, and Christmas, I want to alert you to the fact that the locals in Mallorca call Christmas the Little Summer.
We’ve spent the last twenty Christmases on the island, and let me assure you that we had more Christmas Days in the sun and on the beach than cold or rainy ones. We never had snow.
Yes, there was snow in the Tramuntana mountain range for the last two or three days, and some folks are wishing for a White Christmas here in Mallorca. And yes, temperatures were at around freezing last Sunday night. But by yesterday temperatures had picked up; the icy wind seems to have settled. There was some rain, here and there, and may continue to be.
But overall, my bets are for dry, possibly sunny spells a week today. We are planning for a nice walk on the beach, either Christmas Day or Boxing Day, whatever, enjoying el verano pequeño.
