Sculpting Stones

Mallorca has to be a very stony island, judging by the many drystone walls in its countryside. Most of these country walls are expertly crafted, one stone at a time, and are fashioned in the traditional way of a centuries’ old trade.

Admittedly, this tradition appears to be dying out. But, the Island Council has now taken to train youngsters and aficionados alike in the art of sculpting drystone walls.

The photo was taken near Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: February 19th, 2008. The time was 13:29:36.
