Four Wins at Roland Garros

Rafa Nadal yesterday won the French Open Championship at Roland Garros in Paris for the fourth consecutive year. Only Björn Borg ever achieved that feat before the 22 year old tennis Pro from Manacor, Mallorca.

Nadal won a total of 92 points compared to 52 won by his opponent, Roger Federer. With a win in three sets and with only four games conceded, the final was finished in 1 hour and 48 minutes, thus making it the shortest men’s final in Roland Garros since 1980. Nadal is only the seventh male player in the Open era to win a Grand Slam title without losing a single set in the entire tournament.

Rafa Nadal has played 28 matches in Paris since 2005, and he has won each and every one, thus equalizing Björn Borg’s previous record.

Roger Federer (with 12 Grand Slam titles so far) has never won the French Open, although he is not the only one. Pete Sampras may hold the record for the most Grand Slam titles (14) but he also never triumphed at Roland Garros.

¡Enhorabuena, Rafa!
