The Palau Reial in Palma de Mallorca (shown here) is a fabulous building dating from 1882. It is now the seat of the Consell de Mallorca, currently presided over by Francina Armengol Socías.
Mallorca is about to celebrate La Diada de Mallorca, on occasion of the landing of Jaume I and his troops on September 12th, 1229, in Santa Ponsa, on his quest to re-conquer the island from the hands of the Moors. Celebrations started yesterday and will continue throughout September; a full programme of activities is published in all local newspapers.
My personal highlight this year will be the Jornades de Portes Obertes, the Open Doors events at the Palau Reial. A tour of the building is scheduled for September 5th, 19h00. More Open Doors are scheduled for September 6th, 10h00-14h00, September 7th, 10h00-14h00, and September 13th, 10h00-14h00.
The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: September 2nd, 2008. The time was 14:24:47.
