Mallorcan churches always amaze me. The smallest village, of perhaps only twenty buildings or less, takes pride in an enormous parish church.
Larger pueblos may have two or even three large churches, not to speak of an additional place of worship, perhaps in a monastery or a chapel here or there. The church shown here is the Església de Sant Francesc, the second parish church of Llucmajor.
In front of the church is a peaceful little square with a statue of the L’Espigolera, an homage to the Mallorcan poetess, Maria Antònia Salvà i Ripoll (1869-1958), hija il.lustre de Llucmajor.
The photo was taken in the village of Llucmajor, Mallorca. The date: September 9th, 2007. The time was 14:29:16.
