I know, the Spring Equinox is not due until March 20th this year. That’s another eleven weeks to go.
But in Mallorca, the first signs of Spring can usually be spotted around the day of the Reyes Magos (yesterday, January 6th). And, in true Mallorcan fashion, I spotted this Prunus Dulcis (almond tree) in full bloom yesterday. I took the liberty to take this lovely sight as an early salutation of Springtime.
The photo was taken in Son Negre, near Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: January 6th, 2008. The time was 14:30:13. Temperatures at that time were around 17º C.
