The Mystic Chants of Sufis

Most visitors to Mallorca would think of Palma de Mallorca, the island capital, when looking for a theatre. Most of us are surprised to find that Mallorca actually has an array of theatres, all over the island.

Auditoriums can be found in Palma, Manacor, Inca, Cala Millor, Alcúdia, Capdepera, Son Servera, Vilafranca de Bonany, Bunyola, Pollença, Andratx, Campos, Santanyí, Calvià, Lloseta, Artà, Santa Eugènia plus a few more places, with a sometimes surprisingly rich variety of cultural offerings, ranging from theatre, mime and musicals to an occasional visiting opera production, and from concerts to dance performances.

The Teatre Municipal de Manacor is going out of its way to accommodate an inter-cultural audience by putting on an evening of Sufi chants, tonight at 20h30, as part of its IV Setmana Intercultural a Manacor. Admission is free. Apparently there is a Sufi community, resident in Manacor. Well, what do you know?

The main photo was taken in Manacor, Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: June 2nd, 2008. The time was 12:28:13.
