Es Closos de Can Gaià

Es Closos de Can Gaià is a Pre-Talaiotic settlement near Portocolom (Felanitx), dating from the Bronze Age (ca. 1600 B. C.), about 700 m up from the coast. Every year during the Summer, volunteer archeologists mainly from the UIB university in Palma de Mallorca, plus a small army of helpers, mostly students from the Instituto secondary school in Felanitx, embark on the site for a few weeks, furthering excavation and a general clean-up.

There will be an open day at the pre-historic site, August 16th, from 18h00. The volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable and generous with the information that they are more than willing to share.

The photo was taken near Portocolom, Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: August 2nd, 2008. The time was 18:30:16.
