In Praise of Libraries

biblioteca.jpg

I really like public libraries, especially those that have an air of tradition to them. Spain is well placed for history and tradition, and so is Mallorca, this jewel in the Mediterranean.

Palma de Mallorca, the island capital, affords at least three great libraries of old that are worthy of your visit: the one inside of the Parliament building, the one in the Misericordia centre, and the one pictured here, inside of Palma’s town hall. Oh yes, not to forget the best of all of them, the one at Fundación Bartolomé March, inside Palau March, just underneath of Palau de l’Almudaina. About that one, some time soon.

The photo was taken at the Ayuntamiento de Palma (town hall), in Palma de Mallorca, Balears, Spain. The date: August 14th, 2007. The time was 11:10:08.
