During a recent outing to the very inspiring Parc Natural de S’Albufera, I came across this little wriggly friend.
The viper (Natrix Maura) was in full view, closer to me than I had ever seen one, but by the time my camera was in position, the creature had nearly disappeared into the undergrowth. I do hope though that you might enjoy seeing the tail-end of this small water snake (non-poisonous, in case you wondered).
Visiting hours at the Nature Park during Winter are daily from 09h00 to 17h00. Access to the Park is on foot or by bicycle. Entry surprisingly comes absolutely free of charge. Go if you can.
The photo was taken near the town of Alcúdia, Mallorca, Spain. The date: November 4th, 2007. The time was 15:50:00.
