Plenty of Water

gorg_blau.jpg

Gorg Blau is a water reservoir that Mallorca’s capital city, Palma de Mallorca, relies upon for most of its water supply, together with the Embalse Cúber.

Well, here’s the good news. Gorg Blau is full to near capacity. With all the rain in Mallorca last year and especially last autumn, both the Blau and the Cúber reservoirs are fuller than they have been during the last twenty years. Currently, both reservoirs are said to hold 91 % and 94 % respectively of their capacity, which is a combined total water storage capacity of some 12 million tons of water. That amount would last for the population of Palma and for the millions of visiting guests in the Palma Bay area, for the rest of this year, the press reported earlier this week. One thing less to worry about.

Mind you, there was unusually little rain in Mallorca since the beginning of this year. Let’s have some rain soon, please.
