The people in Carrer Vileta, no. 7, Porreres, from Vinyes i Celler Jaume Mesquida de Mallorca SA, are always proud of their fine wines. The Bodegas were founded in 1945, long before tourism was rife and well before the current boom in fine Mallorcan wines made headlines.
The Jaume Mesquida people are particularly pleased about the latest praise that one of their wines, the Jaume Mesquida Negre 2005, was bestowed upon earlier this year.
American wine critic, Robert Parker, of ‘The Wine Advocate’ fame, awarded this vino tinto an exceptional 90 points score. In 2001, Ànima Negre 1998, from Felanitx, was praised in a similar fashion by this prestigious wine guru.
Cheers. Hooray. Congratulations.
Should you want to sample this Crianza wine from the DO Pla i Llevant region, a fruity blend of Callet, Mantonegro, Merlot and Cabernet grapes, don’t dilly-dally. Only 21,000 bottles were produced. At a surprisingly low RRP of 8,60 €, demand may soon outstrip supplies.
