Pollença is a very proud town to the north of our island.
Amongst the many sights to behold in Pollença, there is the Església de Sant Domingo (shown here) and the adjoining Claustre de Sant Domingo, the centrally situated Església Parroquial de la Mare de Déu dels Àngels, the Museu Municipal de Pollença, the gothic Torre de Can Desbrull with its surrounding Jardins Joan March Servera, the teeny Oratori de Sant Jordi with the 365 steps of the Calvari, the splendid Església de Monti-Sion, the intimate Plaça de l’Almoina and the historic monument of the Punt Romà.
Nearby, and outside of the town proper, you’ll find Port de Pollença and Cala Sant Vicenç, as well as the rather dramatic Península de Formentor.
Best of all, perhaps, are Pollença’s cultural activities, such as the annual Festival de Pollença, this year in its 48th year, the Certamen Internacional d’Arts Plàstiques de Pollença, now in its 46th edition, and the much younger annual Premis Pollença de Literatura which are awarded for both novels as well as poetry.
Last but not least, Pollença proudly stages the Pí de Sant Antoni, every year in January, and the battle between the Moros i Cristian, every August.
If none of this will make your day, why not simply visit and enjoy the local ambience, a bar stroll, a good meal, a gallery visit or a walk in the surrounding areas?
