What a gorgeous day we had yesterday. There was snow in Britain, fog in Berlin, rain and sleet in Paris, but we had sun and blue skies and not a cloud in sight in Mallorca, with springtime temperatures of up to 17º C. Wonderful.
Yes, there will be a few clouds today, the weather forecast says, and a bit of a drizzle tomorrow, here in Mallorca.
Be the weather as it may, there is no doubt that the almond blossom season is now in full swing, here on this island.
The almond tree growing in Mallorca is of the Prunus dulcis var. dulcis (Mill.) variety, I am told. I suspect that the prime example of a mature almond tree in full blossom shown here is a Prunus dulcis of the same variety. I took the photograph near Pollença, up north, some three weeks ago. Perhaps the weather is milder up there; who knows?
The photo was taken near Pollença, Mallorca, Spain. The date: January 17th, 2009. The time was 16:41:41.
wow. blossoms are gorgeous! does it have a smell of almonds in the air as well? in Vancouver, BC Canada, I see lots of Cherry Blossoms. Smells sweet!
