On a walk along the beach in Cala Pí de la Posada the other day, I discovered the Club de los Poetas, quite by chance. I have no idea what it is or who stands behind this club.
The Península de Formentor belongs to the municipality of Pollença, so I can only suspect that the Club de los Poetas may come under the auspices of the Club de Pollença, or else is in some way associated with the cultural mandarins of the town hall of Pollença. Or, it may simply be a private initiative in a privileged location, bang next to the posh Hotel Formentor and right opposite the lovely Illa de Formentor.
In any case, some research on the Internet seems to suggest that the idea of a Club de los Poetas was probably launched in 1959 by Camilo José Cela, the Spanish Nobel laureate.
If anyone of you should know more about this little secret, please let me know.
