I just love the spirit and effort of castellers and the art of forming human tower-like castles (hence the name).

Manacor hosted a festival with three groups of castellers last Saturday. Castellers de Mallorca from Palma and Al·lots de Llevant from Manacor played host to the famous Castellers de Vilafranca from Penedès in Catalunya. That group had not shown their acrobatic skills in Mallorca since 2001. They showed their great talent with lots of pride and enthusiasm. At the championship of Castells in Tarragona last year, the Castellers de Vilafranca won the overall trophy with 5,997 points with their performance of a human tower made up of nine tiers.

If you would like to see some human castles performed, you could make your way to the Fira del Llibre (Palma Book Fair) in Palma de Mallorca next Sunday (June 7th) at 12h00 noon, where the Castellers de Mallorca will be in action.
