Horsemeat, if You Please

horse_meat.jpg

Despite widespread belief, horsemeat and foal in particular enjoy some loyal customers in Spain and have for some time. Although the consumption of horsemeat has gone back over the last 30 or 40 years, there seems to be a revival now due to its nutritional properties.

There were ample supplies of horse butchers on the island of Mallorca with a good five or six of them in Palma de Mallorca alone. Now, I know of only two horsemeat butchers in Palma, of which this is one, near the mercado at the Plaza Garau.

The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The date: September 26th, 2007. The time was 11:42:24.
