The Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma celebrated its fifth anniversary yesterday, January 31st.
The occasion was marked with a day of Open Doors. Also, some rather modern dance performances were presented by Companyia Mariantònia Oliver, outdoors as well as amidst the art exhibits, inside.
The night before yesterday, a new exhibition had been inaugurated with 12 gigantic paintings by German artist, Anselm Kiefer (1945). Whilst I have struggled to say anything good about Palma’s Modern Art Museum over the last five years, apart from the Aljub exhibition space down in the museum’s underbellies, I do recommend Herr Kiefer’s show as worthy of a visit.
I’ll tell you more about the exhibition in a separate blog entry, in a day or two. The exhibition will be on view until August 30th.
The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Balears, Spain. The date: January 31st, 2009. The time was 11:16:50.
