Folkloric Dancing

For the last 13 years, the City of Palma de Mallorca together with the Consell de Mallorca and the Govern Balear staged an annual Festival Mundial de Danses Folklòriques, and again so during this week.

64 dance groups representing some 30 countries, ranging from Egypt to Cameroon, from Argentina to Puerto Rico, from Wales to Norway and from Bulgaria to Iceland, to name but a few, participate in this year’s festival.

The colourful event continues today (Saturday, April 18th) between 10h30 and 14h00 at various public squares in the island capital, to conclude with a parade of all participating groups at 18h00 at the Parc de Sa Riera, opposite Palma’s Municipal cemetery. All dance presentations can be viewed admission free.

The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: April 17th, 2009. The time was 18:01:26. The group shown is from Mumbai (India) and is called Nrityanjalie. Namaste.

  1. The annual Festival Mundial de Danses Folkloriques truely is a wonderful event. In fact Mallorca is blessed to have so many fantastic events on from cultural to sporting. We actually have a very cool events calendar which lists many events, and if you are running an event we would love to hear about it … and promote it at zero cost!
