Old bread and stale pa is a valuable commodity in Spain, and in Mallorca. For one, stale slices of bread find their use in the preparation of sopas, a delicious Mallorcan vegetable stew. Whole loafs of pa mallorquí, on the other hand, are a welcome supplement to animal feed, in particular for pigs and dogs. Bread and water.
I prefer freshly baked pa pages or pa moreno to the old stuff. Fresh bread from the local panaderia goes down well with a dash of olive oil, some cheese or a bit of Sobrassada.
