Nudist Beaches in Mallorca

You may think that I have left it a bit late, telling you about nudist beaches in Mallorca in September. But, hey, did you have a look at the thermometer lately? Temperatures are still around 30° C in coastal areas and are said to even climb to 31° C on Saturday and Sunday in Santanyí. And who wants to share their beach with trillions of other bathers anyway? September is probably the best month of the year for swimming or snorkeling, here on the island. The water is still warm, the sun is still out and hot enough most days, and the beaches are much less crowded than they were a few weeks ago.

I remember a time – my God, how old am I? – when the Guardia Civil did not allow any top-less bathing on any of its beaches. Now it is legal to practice nudist bathing on public beaches. A number of playas are classified as nude beaches in Mallorca but, that does not mean that only nudist bathers are allowed there. It is equally quite possible for there to be nudists on beaches not specifically declared para nudistas. It is up to you and your friends where and how you practice your naturist leaning in Mallorca, should you be that way inclined.

Just south of Es Trenc, there are Els Peregons Petits and Els Peregons Grans. The latter is probably the most popular of all nudist beaches in Mallorca. Other beaches used by nudists are Cala Blanca in Andratx, Es Canyaret (Llucalcari/Deiá), Cala Brafi (Felanitx), Cala Murta (Pollença), Coll Baix (Alcúdia), Cala Torta (Artà), Son Serra de Marina (Santa Margalida), Son Real (Can Picafort) or Platja del Mago (Magaluf). In Palma, there is Caló des Grells, on the way to the Dique del Oeste, which is often used by Palma’s nudist bathers.

The Mallorca Beach Guide only lists one naturist beach on the island (Platja del Mago) but, is otherwise the best website for Mallorca’s beaches. The best book on beaches has to be Todas las playas de Mallorca by Miguel Ángel Álvarez Alperi, with 262 beaches and 22 maps on 383 pages (ed. Laluzenpapel, 2011), yours for 24.95 €.

You may have your own favourite naturist beach or you may not worry one way or other about taking your clothes off in public. As I said, there are no rules, so, don’t be surprised if the person next to you sheds off more than may please you. The Guardia Civil keeps well out of the way, whatever.

The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: May 26th, 2009. The time was 15:31:31.

  1. I love Cala Torta! I noticed this year, they’ve “cleaned it up” by adding sand to the cala. It’s a mini adventure to get to but worth it. I have seen nudists in Cala Torta but it’s what’s nice about Mallorca, you can opt to sunbathe in the nude and no one really cares.

  2. hello,
I am trying to get in contact with mallorcaphotoblog.
Hopefully you can let me know if you get this.
    Gracias,
