Avid readers of this blog will assume that I am an enthusiast of insects. Well, yes, but no, not really. I just love the beauty of things and as far as Mallorca is concerned, I see beauty everywhere. And sometimes it is insects.
I first thought this little creature here was perhaps a Praying Mantis, but on reflection I don’t think so. A Praying Mantis would be a Mantodea insect. Perhaps we have a Stick Mantis here. Someone out there may know better. It is said that there are some 3,000 different species of stick insects. Some of them are rather beautiful.
Apparently, some people keep these little creatures as pets. There you go.
The photo was taken near Felanitx, Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: August 28th, 2009. The time was 09:57:23. The photo was taken by my younger daughter, Onna. Thank you, Sweetie.
Hm. Not sure exactly what type, but pretty sure that is indeed a mantis, not a stick bug. Gorgeous, whatever! Keep ’em coming!
Hello! We’re students from 4th year ESO of the Ramon Llull highschool, and we’re using your blog to search some interesting photographs in our English class. I’ve chosen this photo because I found beautiful and at the same time strange, and also because I love photography about wildlife. I fully agree with you about the beauty nature that surround us in Mallorca.
I saw a similar one in Sineu 3.10.18 very green. Was in a palm tree.
