Tonight at 22h00, Patti Smith, one of the most original and influential artists of American rock in the ’70s, will give a concert in Lloseta, in the gardens of the Palau Comtes d’Aiamans. The singer-composer will be accompanied by some of the members of the original Patti Smith Group, such as guitarist Lenny Kaye and drummer Jay Dee Daugherty. Tonight, the band will be completed by bassist and pianist Tony Shanahan and guitarist Jack Petruzzelli. Tickets are on sale at 32 € and 35 € (www.fonart.com). Patti Smith (Chicago, 1946) performed two sold-out concerts at the Teatre Principal in Palma in March 2008, and gave an intimate poetry reading at Cel.la 4 of the Cartoixa de Valldemossa (see photo above). Concurringly, she had a small but powerful exhibition of photographs at the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró.
Tomorrow night at 19h00, the artist will sign copies of her latest book (Just Kids) at the Literanta bookshop in Palma’s Carrer Can Fortuny, where she recounts her relationship with photographer, Robert Mapplethorpe (1946-1989). In Spain, the book was published by Editorial Lumen under the title Éramos unos niños.
