The patios (courtyards) in Palma are amongst Mallorca’s finest attractions. Usually, patios are closed to the public, except at the occasion of Corpus Christi in June, when a number of patios are opened and nicely presented for the curious eyes of those of us interested in Palma’s architecture and history. This year, for some silly bureaucratic reason or other, the Route of the Patios of Palma in June was cancelled, though. I have it from a reliable source, however, that patio tours will be offered again in September, four weeks from now or so. Take note though that the office organizing these and other tours in Palma has changed its location. The new location is now in Carrer Montenegro no. 5; for reservations telephone 971.720.720. Tours are offered in English, German, Castellano and Catalan at a price of 10 € for a 2 hour tour. Discounts are available for those over 65 and those under 18.
The patio shown (see photo) belongs to Ca’n Vivot, one of the finest of all courtyards in Palma. Let’s hope the upcoming patio tours will allow us once more to visit this one as well as other treasures of Palma’s historic old town.
