December and the colder months of the year in general, may be the best time to explore some of the mountain walks and hikes that this gorgeous island has to offer. Mallorca has some of the most beautiful and varied hiking terrain imaginable and some breathtakingly beautiful landscape. There are a total of 50+ peaks with heights in excess of 1,000 metres and many of those are explorable by people like you and me, offering a rewarding hiking experience.
You may go hiking with the aid of one of the many walking and hiking guidebooks on offer, or you may feel more comfortable on a tour guided by knowledgeable expert people. Mallorcawalks offer a number of guided walks to some of the easier approachable mountain tops, such as Galatzó (1027 m), Puig del Teix (1064 m), L’Ofre (1090 m) and Massanella (1352 m). Guided tours are offered for as little as 35 € per person, including transport and insurance. Check for details on their website. If you go out on your own, be prudent. And check the weather forecast before you go. And let someone close to you know where you are heading. Take care.
