Followers of this blog may recall that once or twice before I gave publicity to the polyphonic choir, Tenim Cantera. The choir is based in Felanitx with members from here, the Comarca as well as from Santanyí, expertly directed by the Greek gentlewoman, Irina Cotseli. To celebrate the tenth anniversary, a concert was given last night at the Església de Son Negre (Felanitx). Lieder and Nocturnes by a number of composers from the Renaissance period (Orlande de Lassus, Jacob Arcadelt etc.) were performed by the Coral Polifònica.
I have to confess to a certain partiality with this group of music enthusiasts. Some of the choir members count amongst my friends (Txell, Jaume, Angelika, Miquel and Tomeu), whilst the director and her husband are neighbours of ours, twice removed. When I heard that an anniversary concert had not been forthcoming, I asked some other amigos for help and was soon enabled to meet our Felanitx parish priest. A request to hold a concert at one of the smaller churches in the Felanitx area during the Advent period was granted immediately. After yesterday’s concert, the friendly Company family, keepers of the Son Negre church keys, invited the group to come back any time they wanted for more of their wonderful singing.
The photo was taken near Felanitx, Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: December 19th, 2010. The time was 17:31:32. The video was borrowed from the Internet, courtesy of YouTube and cudixxxx.
Thank you very much.
Beautiful singing – thank you! I enjoy my daily ‘fix’ of warmth from Mallorca. It’s snowy and very cold in England. Feliz Navidad.
