When it comes to good restaurants, a nice walk or a pleasant beach, one has to consider whether to tell one’s friends about the experience, or better not. Sometimes it’s better to keep quiet about an insider’s secret, don’t you think?
But, I’ll share one of my favourite Calas with you, just because. There is a small Cala somewhere near Santanyí, Es Caló des Moro (Cala del Moro), with surely one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. The water is clean and of a transparent turquoise colour. The sand is white and soft, the Cala is surrounded by imposing cliffs and it is all located in a unique natural setting. There is no beach bar, there are no hamacas nor any sun shades, there’s no chill-out music and there are no crowds, unless you go there in the last week of July or the first week of August. It is a bit difficult to get to the location by land as there are no signs and the access is rather a hidden. Access by boat is a bit easier, as long as you have a boat. Try Cala Llombards as a general direction and see if you can find my favourite beach bay.
When we went there yesterday, the sandy beach was gone. We had misjudged the tides. Here in Mallorca, there is not much difference between the ebb and the flow but, occasionally, one will notice the difference in the water levels, just as we did yesterday in Es Caló des Moro. It did not much matter, though. Instead of going for a swim, we climbed the nearby rock faces and I took to taking photographs, all in pursuit of happy blogging.
