For the last 13 years, an annual festival of Teresetes (puppets and marionettes) has been organised in Mallorca, with performances being held in Palma as well as the pueblos (villages) up and down the island. This year, there were 11 companies from Holland, the Czech Republic, France, the Slovak Republic, Catalunya and Mallorca, giving 36 performances and delighting hundreds of young ones and the young at heart. Sometimes I wonder if the greater pleasure is watching the puppets perform or watching the audience taking such tremendous pleasure in the performances.

Perhaps you were lucky enough to witness Piki Divadlo (Piki Theatre) perform in Felanitx as I did, or any of the other groups some other place. I hope the event will come back next year and every year.

And no, the Bread and Puppet Theater did not come to Mallorca, not this year and not ever, as far as I know. But it would be nice if they did visit one day.
