Once Again, From Güell To Lluc

Palma was busy last night, as every year in early August, in preparation of a night-long walk of almost 50 kilometres from Plaça Güell to the monastery of Lluc, up in the Serra de Tramuntana. The annual marxa (march) was staged for the 38th time this year and was due to arrive in Lluc in the early hours of this morning. A few thousand people took the challenge yesterday of the long walk meandering past Marratxí (Es Figueral), Sant Maria, Consell, Binissalem, Lloseta, Biniamar and Selva, before the steep inclination started at Caimari and continued past Es Barrecar, Salt de la Bella Dona to finally arrive at the Santuario de Lluc. I have never done this particular walk myself but, one day I will. Promise.

The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: August 6th, 2011. The time was 22:29:10.
