Earlier this morning, an Anada outing by donkey, horse, pony, mule, bicycle, pulled cart or carriage sortied from my hometown Felanitx to Cala Marçal in Portocolom, having been organised by the Associació d’Ases i Someres. It is always a pleasure to see the often lovingly restored old carts and carriages being put to use. The four-hour hike to Cala Marçal stopped halfway for a snack and some refreshments. I did not continue all the way this year, much as I would have wanted. Upon arrival in Cala Marçal, a communal meal would have been arranged and perhaps a swim will be taken before everybody heads back home sometime later in the day. A week ago, a similar outing took place from Santanyí to Cala s’Amarador. If you should own a donkey and a cart, maybe this time next year you might want to put your name down and participate in one of these joyful outings, done the way Mallorcans do things.
