The Caló des Grells

I love the sea. I live in Mallorca precisely for the reason that this is an island. I don’t live at the edge of the sea, not because I can’t afford to but, because I don’t need to. I see the Mediterranean marvel every day of my time here which is pretty much 350 days a year, more or less.

Over the last few days the sea has been quite rough. We had a Yellow Alert a couple of days ago when there were severe storms in Holland, Germany and the UK. But yesterday, the sea was calm and gentle. There were wavelets as I visited the Caló des Grells, on the way to the Dique del Oeste. I did not go into the water. There were a couple of people fishing from the rocks. One of them went in briefly, perhaps to wash his feet, or perhaps it had to do with his fishing tackle. He had taken his trousers off but he did not swim. The children of friends of ours went in for a swim earlier this week when the sun was still a pleasant 17° C. The water feels colder but must still be 15 or 16° C, I guess. The Moon is now in opposition with the Sun and will be in a Full Moon position tomorrow. This might bring lower air temperatures over the next few days. It is Winter, after all.

Paradise can’t be much better. Don’t tell anyone I live in Paradise.
