The best garden architecture in Mallorca always works with a play of water, fountains, a pond, basins, a trickle. One says that it was the Moors, a long time ago, who introduced the art of irrigation and water storage, of fountains and cascades into the Mallorcan landscape.
On a hot day, such as we had over the last few days, it is simply refreshing to be anywhere near a playful water source. The Jardins de s’Hort del Rei in the centre of Palma de Mallorca (see photo) offer a number of fountains that provide a cool spot of fresh air together with a pleasant sound.
