An imitation Oktoberfest is on at MegaPark (Playa de Palma), a place that could well be what hell might look like. The beer festival for the unhappy, unfulfilled, desperate and miserable is on until Sunday, October 24th. Not that I actually mean to rush you to get there.
Now, let’s be fair. I did not strongly feel inclined to go to MegaPark in the first place, other than for taking a photo or two, and I certainly did not choose the right time of day. I went in mid-afternoon, when one really should only go there in the evening, if at all. But to be honest: the beer was more than decent.
People say that this year’s Fiesta de la Cerveza in Paguera, also an Oktoberfest of sorts, was the better of the two events. If that is true, we’ve missed it. The Oktoberfest in Paguera closed their doors yesterday. The event in Paguera had been going for a few years, until now under the direction of the German guy who this year organised the fest at Mega Park. I went to the event in Paguera a couple of years ago, and it wasn’t all that bad. The people doing Paguera from this year onward are also German, but seem to be into it in a rather big way. They hold similar events all over Spain in places such as Benidorm, Pamplona, Madrid and Salamanca, and even in Portugal. Oh, well. I won’t be going there, not for the Bavarian make-belief.
The photo was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: October 11th, 2010. The time was 14:51:16.
Ha ha….
Your commentary had me laughing out loud!
Is that an Oompah-band I see?
