Every year, on the first weekend of December, the pueblo of Montuïri celebrates its Fira de Sa Perdiu, the Partridge Fair. Activities already began yesterday and will continue today and, in fact, even over the días festivos of the December puente, until next Wednesday. The festive days, by the way, are December 6th, for the Spanish Constitution, and December 8th, for the Inmaculada Concepción. The fira’s main activity, apart from a Setmana Gastronòmica, held in the town’s seven main bars and restaurants, is a Concurso de Sa Perdiu (Partridge Competition). The food event offers menus around the theme of perdius and guatlleres for an outlay between 13 and 20 €. The partridge competition is fun and intriguing to watch even though the rules are quite complex and bewildering. See if you can work them out, should you happen to go to Montuïri today.
