The Bahía de Palma (Bay of Palma) has been teaming with sporting life ever since last weekend, with hundreds of boats of the smaller classes, Laser and such like as well as windsurfing, competing for laurels.
The Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofía sailing regatta is on. This annual competition would normally be held at the Easter weekend. This year, the competition had to be changed to an earlier date due to the need to adapt to the ISAF Sailing World Cup calendar. Around 675 boats from more than 50 nations are participating in this year’s event, held from April 2nd to 9th (tomorrow). The Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofía is now in its 42nd edition and is one of the seven events of the ISAF Sailing World Cup. The top ranks strive for qualification points for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Ahoy.
