The Son Mesquida Sheep Dog Trials

The Associació de Veïns de Son Mesquida organizes an annual Sheep Dog Trial competition, the Gran Premi de Son Mesquida. Yesterday, at the occasion of the Festes de La Immaculada, the competition was held for the 11th time. A total of 18 dogs competed, mostly of the Border Collie variety, from the Felanitx area, from Palma, the rest of the island as well as from Cerdenya in Catalunya. Most dog owners were male but, there was one female pagès and there was a twelve-year-old boy as well handling his dog and the sheep very well indeed. Seven dogs survived the first round of three trials each, to enter the second round with one final trial.

The winning dog was Xusca who had already taken the first prize in the trials two years ago, and her owner, Miquel Adrover des Cau, who also was crowned Campio de Balears.

The photos were taken in Son Mesquida, Felanitx, Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: December 8th, 2011. The time was 12:48:42 and 13:23:52, respectively.
