May I suggest that you leave the island of Mallorca.
Seriously. Surprise yourself with a change of perspective and treat yourself to a look at Mallorca from a different viewpoint, one from the outside, one from the sea. The island is a completely different place when looked at from the sea, believe it or not. In a way, Mallorca is even more beautiful when viewed from a distance, on board a ship, even more magic, even more serene.
To enjoy that sensation, to view and experience this island from its best side, the off-shore side, you will have to hire a boat, or convince a friend who owns a boat to invite you on a boat trip. Perhaps you have Mallorcan friends who enjoy some weekend fishing and proudly own a Llaüt, the Mallorcan fishing boat. They might ask you along one day, on a fishing expedition. Accept the invitation. Grab the opportunity and discover Mallorca’s beauty as seen from the sea. In a way, and if the comparison is allowed, what you will see is something like a beautiful, if concealed woman who you have known for years, who suddenly lifts her veil for the first time and shows you her true face. You will discover a divine beauty that is tenfold more magnificent than the splendour that you have known so far.
How very lucky for us to live on this island, this very paradise.
The photo (top) was taken by my daughter Onna on the way out from Cala Figuera (Santanyí). Thank you, darling. The photo (bottom) was borrowed from the Internet, courtesy of svsarah.com and the photographer, John. Thank you very much.
