Delicious Wild Asparagus

wild_asparagos.jpg

February and March is the time for Wild Asparagus.

On your perambulations in the countryside of Mallorca at this time of year, you should see quite a number of locals out in force gathering this delicious wild nourishment. You might even have had a go yourself already, depending on the time that you have spent on this island.

If you don’t know where to look – because it takes a trained eye to find the tender shoots – you might get lucky at your local farmers’ market. A bunch like the one gathered by this young chap should set you back 1 Euro, perhaps, in the stalls.

The photo was taken near Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: February 17th, 2008. The time was 13:58:06.
