A Little Bit of Penitence

confraternidad.jpg

Easter in Spain used to be and still is all about penitence and repentance. Hence the Easter processions.

In Mallorca, Confraternidades of all colours and confessional inclinations (as long as they are Catholic) hold processions in Palma as well as in most of the towns and villages. Such processions are usually held in hooded attire all through this week.

Last night, a procesión del silencio was held in Felanitx. A solemn experience for onlookers, full of drama.

The photo was taken in Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: March 18th, 2008. The time was 22:45:58.
