Vía Crucis

It is Viernes Santo today (Good Friday). Spain celebrates Easter, along with the rest of the Catholic World.

In Mallorca, Good Friday is the day for a dramatic reenactment of the Vía Crucis (the Way of the Cross), also known as the Via Dolorosa. The performance is now staged in its 23rd year by the theatre group Taula Rodona.

The spectacle will be held on the steps leading down from the La Seu Cathedral in Palma de Mallorca, at 12h00 noon. I took this photo three years ago; the performance should be good again today, as it always is.

Entry is free of charge, but if you want to go, get there early as the show is rather popular with the locals.

The photo was chosen from my archives. It was taken in Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain. The date: March 25th, 2005. The time was 12:42:26.
